TREATMENTS AND PROCEDURE

HEPATOLOGY
We offer comprehensive hepatology services, including the diagnosis and management of viral, autoimmune and metabolic liver diseases. We work closely with hepatobiliary surgeons, oncologists, interventional radiologists (for TIPS and tumor ablation techniques) and transplant referral centers. The unit has extensive experience in the management of complex patients with viral hepatitis, including co-infection with HIV, portal hypertension and end-stage liver disease.
PANCREATOBILIARY CONDITIONS
We provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with a variety of wound types with an emphasis on lower extremity wounds as well as advanced care of chronic and problematic wounds. Our expertise includes treatment of chronic wounds including diabetes-related, venous, vascular or pressure wounds along with non-healing post-surgical and traumatic wounds. We also treat advanced diabetic ulcers with new and advanced therapies to make wounds close more quickly
Our emergency care facility is also equipped to care for medical emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, severe asthma, pneumonia, shock and sepsis. Industrial accident and toxicology or poisoning cases are routinely treated alongside paediatric, ENT, orthopaedic and ophthalmic emergencies.
COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING
We have an active program for colon cancer screening and offer “open access” colonoscopy screening for average risk individuals, as well as those with blood in the stool or a family history of colorectal cancer. No prior appointment with us is necessary. Patients receive results the same day.
PALLIATIVE SERVICES
Many of our services are intended to offer comfort to patients with feeding difficulties related to a serious illness. For example, we can enable patients with esophageal cancer to eat normally by placing an endoscopic stent in the esophagus or by the use of photodynamic therapy, allowing food to pass beyond the cancerous area into the stomach. This procedure can replace a gastrostomy tube and offer patients the pleasure of eating. For patients with conditions that cannot be stented, such as ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) or the aftermath of stroke, a gastrostomy tube can offer them the opportunity of being fed at home.

TECHNOLOGY
We have a full range of latest Olympus Endoscopes, including a Double Channel Gastroscope and we also have an Automatic Endoscope washer which is one of the few existing in the country. It is a sophisticated piece of equipment that eliminates the risk of transmitting infections by the Endoscopes. The department is also equipped with a GE Digital Cath Lab and side viewing Duodenoscope for performing diagnostic and therapeutic ERCPs. The Endoscope images are converted to digital files in real time that provide images for storing, retrieving and comparing.
